Where should I park?
You will be given a detailed email 1-2 days before your tour with instructions on where to meet and park.
Can I book a private group tour?
Absolutely! We can accommodate private tours of 10-25 guests Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings, Friday lunch, and Saturday brunch. If you have an event you would like to privately book please email at email@example.com or call 205-529-9322.
Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
Yes, tickets must be purchased in advance. Tours quickly sell out ahead of time, so please plan accordingly.
Do you accept cash?

Are there senior/child rates?
We currently do not offer any discounted rates.
Are children allowed on the tour?
Children are allowed on tours; however, there is a lot of walking and a preset menu that can not be altered for children. All children over 3 will require a ticket. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to bring a child with you so we can plan accordingly.
Do I need any extra money on the tour?
You may choose to bring cash to tip the tour guide.
Do I tip the tour guide?
It is not required, but the tour guides do greatly appreciate a tip if you enjoyed the tour. 15% is standard in the service industry.
How much walking is involved on the tour?
Birmingham Taste Tours is a walking tour. Our tours are extremely pedestrian friendly and walking is the best way to see the city. Our routes range from 1-1.5 miles with restaurant stops in between that are approximately 20-25 minutes. Please email us if you plan to bring a stroller, wheelchair, or scooter when booking. We will need to accommodate for storage of such vehicles and also try to accommodate any steps that might be involved.
What clothing is appropriate for the tour?
Comfort is key. Dress for the temperature and the walk. Some restaurants may lean on the dressy casual side, but they understand you are walking to them.
Is alcohol served during the tour?
You may purchase an alcohol add-on package for $25 that will give you tastings at 4 stops. This may be added in at the checkout process.
Do I need to bring my own water bottle?
No. Water will be served at all food stops.
How much food is served on the tour?
There is enough food to make a meal for most.
What happens if it is raining?
We have fun, rain or shine! We don’t’ like to party in tornadoes or hurricanes though, so you will be contacted about a refund if weather is severe.
What restaurants will we visit on the tour?
Restaurant locations can change weekly. If you would like to get an idea of places you may go, please check out our partners section on our website.
What types of food will we eat?
You will taste foods that our traditional to Alabama and some more ethnic foods that we acquired. To get an idea of what foods might be served, check out our partners page to see types of restaurants and you can view their menus online.
Where do the tours meet?
Each tour meets at a different location. After booking your tour, you will receive several emails. The first will be a confirmation of booking and payment invoice. The second email will be up to 48 before your tour. This email will give you instructions on where to meet, places to park, and who will be your culinary storyteller.
Does the tour have anything to offer a local Birmingham resident?
Of course! A majority of our customers are locals. They participate in our tours to learn about the neighborhoods and the city they call home, to have the unique opportunity to meet new friends from across the country, and of course, taste some deliciously authentic food.
Does the tour end at the same place we meet?
No, the tour will end within close walking distance of the meeting point. You may choose to walk (we will provide you with directions back), or take an Uber, bus, or taxi. Most guests choose to continue the party afterwards at a nearby establishment!
Do you accommodate for allergies/dietary restrictions?
While we try our best to accommodate all allergies and dietary restrictions, some restaurants have a harder accommodating certain restrictions than others. Gluten free, vegan, nut free, and lactose free diets are hard for some of our restaurants to accommodate. Please email immediately at email@example.com so we can try to find a substitution.
Are tours offered in languages other than English?
No we only offer tours in English. Please email us if you choose to bring an interpreter with you.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes, and they make the perfect gift for couples, girls trips, and surprise date nights!
How do I redeem my gift certificate?
When you purchase your certificates, you will receive a special code via e-mail. When you book your tickets online, enter that code at checkout.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Absolutely! Our city and food are both very photogenic!
Are bathrooms available?
Yes, bathrooms will be available at the restaurants.
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a no cancellation policy. However, under certain extreme conditions exceptions may be made to reschedule the tour.
